Nokia has returned with a new Android phone that will be difficult to top.

The Nokia 3310 phone, which felt “indestructible” due to its incredible battery life and unbelievable durability, is still one of the most recognizable phones ever. The Finnish tech company has now made the decision to play to its strengths once more and is attempting to recreate that success for the smartphone era with a new device that is rumored to be extremely durable.

The new Nokia XR21 smartphone was unveiled by HMD Global, the company that now owns the Nokia brand. It is claimed to be completely water-resistant, dust-proof, and drop-resistant.

The manufacturer pointed out that the device is a fantastic option for those who are worried about breaking their phones due to its robust durability and powerful two-day battery life.

Similar to the Nokia 3310, this gadget ought to be able to survive anything, including falling out of your pocket and hitting the ground screen first and 72 hours of hiking through pouring rain.

Its body is wrapped in robust materials like toughened Gorilla Glass and is built entirely of recycled aluminum, making it impact resistant.

The manufacturer mentioned that the MIL-STD-810H durability certification for the Nokia XR21 indicates that it is resistant to drops, dust, and water.

Additionally, they noted that the smartphone has successfully withstood drops from 1.8 meters and immersions in 1.5 meters of water for up to an hour during internal testing. Other testing involved spraying it with water and examining its resistance to high and low temperatures.

Owners will also enjoy a 6.49″ FHD+ screen with a fast 120Hz refresh rate for extremely quick scrolling and a potent Qualcomm CPU in addition to durability. On the back of the device, there is a dual-lens camera that can capture vivid photographs as the sun goes down due to a specific night Mode.

“This is the smartphone version of the famous nearly indestructible Nokia 3310,” said Adam Ferguson, Head of Product Marketing for Nokia phones.

“Experiencing ‘phone-xiety’ due to a broken smartphone or low battery before a long trip is possible.

Our smartphone is so robust that it can endure being soaked by a 100-bar water hose jet with an 80°C water temperature. It was created to allay those commonplace anxieties.

“In fact, we’re so confident in our new durable hero that we are offering a one-year screen replacement guarantee should the worst happen.”

If the XR21 sounds enticing then it launches today with prices starting from £499. It’s available in Pine Green or Midnight Black.
