A new Apple leak speculation about the iPhone 15’s price.
According to recent rumors, the price of the iPhone 15 is increasing, and now a mystery new source on Weibo has added fuel to those reports.
The leaker claims on the Chinese microblogging site that “Apple will raise the price of this year’s iPhone 15 Pro series, further increasing the gap with the iPhone 15 Plus.” Earlier leaks stated iPhone 15 costs will fall, but the reversal surprised users. And these price increases now appear even more plausible because my sources have given me a decent notion of the identity of the leaker, and the information should be treated seriously.
The new leaker does not offer pricing, although both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra received $100 price increases last week (the new name for the Pro Max). This would result in a $300 difference in price between Pro and non-Pro models of the same size:
- iPhone 15 – starting at $799
- iPhone 15 Plus – starting at $899
- iPhone 15 Pro – starting at $1099
- iPhone 15 Ultra – starting at $1199
Following the disappointing demand for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models, Apple has made an aggressive drive to boost iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus sales. It’s a classic Apple answer, defying industry experts who felt base model price decreases would be the logical remedy.
Interestingly, the Weibo leaker confirmed two recent non-Pro model revelations: “the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to come with the Dynamic Island and a 48-megapixel main camera, which is a big upgrade compared to the previous two generations.”
Both of these updates were disclosed last week, but they add credibility to those sources. The iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra variants are also expected to include a titanium frame and two front cameras, which will be considered as necessary if customers are to accept the latest round of pricing increases.
