When a 36-year-old female prison guard came before Magistrate Rehanna Hosein at the Siparia Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 3, she was charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and was given bail with a surety in the amount of $100,000.
Her next court appearance is scheduled on Friday, March 3, 2023. According to police records, on July 3, 2022, at around 6:30 pm, a man stated that he and his wife got into a fight, and that she reportedly hurled something at him. This allegedly resulted in a violent confrontation between them, the man said.
He was tased by his wife. Officers from the Special Victim Department looked into the incident after it was reported to the Siparia Police station. Officers carried out a search warrant at the residence as part of the investigation and discovered two illegal firearms, mainly tasers.
As a result, the suspect was detained and charged on February 3. PC Vijay Ramkissoon filed charges.
