Lil Wayne said of Jay-offer Z’s of $175K to join Roc-A-Fella.
As bizarre as it may seem, this occurrence is not unusual in the entertainment world. In truth, it happens to musicians as well, and Lil Wayne is one of them.
According to the rapper from Louisiana, millionaire Jay Z offered him $175,000 to join the Roc-A-Fella label.

According to XXL Magazine, Wayne said in an interview with DJ Drama in 2016 that Jay-Z gave him the option to join the Roc-A-Fella crew. It would have meant leaving his then-label Cash Money Records, but the “Mrs. Officer” rapper met with the hip-hop tycoon nevertheless.
When Wayne entered the conference area, he noticed Jay-Z had a pretty A-list entourage with him.
“You know when I went out to talk to him about being at Roc-A-Fella, and mind you, this was years ago. First of all, he was at the 40/40 in the daytime, and when I got up there, he was talkin’, it was Denzel [Washington], it was Derek Jeter…I was like, ‘This is his clique?’ And they up there just laughin’ at jokes I just don’t get,” Wayne explained. “He literally sat me down next to him, and this where all that is going on at, and he sat me right here. Like, ‘You ain’t a part of this,’ you know?”
Sean Carter allegedly offered Wayne $175,000 to join his music squad at this juncture. The invitation and money associated with it may have been serious, but Wayne found it kind of funny considering his lifestyle expenses.
“That man offered me 175 [thousand dollars]. I said, ‘Believe that…’ I was looking like…two teeth in my mouth is 175—my bottom teeth. So, we laugh about that all the time,” Wayne said, laughing.
The interview with DJ Drama wasn’t the only time the Young Money mogul mentioned a possible collaboration with Roc-A-Fella.
He has a tune called “Wayne Explains His Deal” on his 2005 mixtape “Dedication 1” with DJ Drama, where he recounts his side of the tale regarding potentially joining Jay Z.
This isn’t the first time Wayne claims Jay-Z has offered him assistance or support. According to AfroTech, Jay-Z settled Wayne’s $14 million tax obligation.
