There’s a possibility of new iPad Pros and iPad Airs launching on March 26, but it’s likely that one model could be absent.
The iPad Pro 2024 and iPad Air 6 might just be a week away
The anticipation for new iPads has been prolonged, considering the last releases were in 2022. However, this wait may soon come to an end, as two different sources suggest that the iPad Pro 2024 and the iPad Air 6 could be unveiled on March 26.
Both Chinese leaker Instant Digital and the Chinese website ITHome have proposed this date, as reported by MacRumors. However, the latter indicates that cases for these tablets will begin to be sold on that date, using this as potential evidence for March 26 as the launch dateNevertheless, even if these tablets are announced on March 26, their shipping may be delayed for a while. According to Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, these tablets will come with iPadOS 17.4, which might not be ready until at least the end of March. Subsequently, they will require installation on these devices, potentially leading to a shipping delay until the second half of April.
However, an announcement on March 26 remains a possibility, followed by the potential opening of pre-orders shortly thereafter. Recently, leaker Ross Young (as reported by MacRumors) has indicated that the iPad Pro 2024 is expected to be announced either in late March or early April, with shipments slated for April.
The upcoming iPad Pro 2024 is expected to be highly anticipated, as leaks indicate it will feature Apple’s first OLED screen in a tablet. Additionally, it is rumored to include a robust M3 chipset, a front camera oriented for landscape use, and potentially even wireless charging capabilities via MagSafe.
Missing model
The iPad Air 6 might not meet all expectations, as the main rumored change—introducing a larger 12.9-inch model—might not come to fruition. According to leaker ShrimpApplePro, there’s likely only a 10.9-inch version, similar to the current model.
However, this conclusion is drawn from the lack of activity related to assembling a 12.9-inch model in Vietnam. It’s suggested that the larger variant could potentially be manufactured in China instead. While it’s premature to completely dismiss the possibility of the larger model, especially considering extensive leaks, there seems to be uncertainty surrounding its release.
Additionally, this source suggests that the iPad Air 6 will feature a landscape-oriented selfie camera but won’t undergo any significant design changes otherwise. They also speculate that out of the five colors available for the iPad Air (2022)—Space Gray, Starlight, Pink, Purple, and Blue—Pink or Blue may not be offered with the new model, with a new shade likely taking its place.
As always, it’s advisable to approach these leaks with caution. Nonetheless, it seems likely that we’ll see the release of the iPad Pro 2024 and the iPad Air 6 in the near future.
