Kim Kardashian paid nearly $200,000 for Princess Diana’s iconic diamond cross necklace.

Kim Kardashian, a reality TV personality, paid nearly $200,000 for a necklace that belonged to Princess Diana.
According to ‘People,’ the 42-year-old reality personality reportedly paid $197,453 (160,000) for the diamond-encrusted amethyst Attallah cross pendant worn by the late monarch, who passed away in a traffic accident in 1997 at the age of 36.
Head of Jewellery at Sotheby’s London, Kristian Spofforth, said in a statement: “This is a bold piece of jewelry by its size, color, and style which cannot fail to make a bright statement, whether it be of faith or fashion—or even both. We are happy that this piece has been given a fresh lease on life by a different internationally renowned figure.
The publication continued by claiming that the star of “The Kardashians” is “honored to hold a superb piece of jewelry owned by the late princess,” who wore the necklace at a charity banquet in London in 1987 while donning a purple Victorian velvet gown created by Catherine Walker.
The cross-shaped pendant, thought to be a one-off private commission by Garrard for one of their regular clients, is a bold and colorful piece set with square-cut amethysts and accented by circular-cut diamonds, according to a press release describing the object, which has not been seen in public since before Diana’s death.
“The cross has a total diamond weight of approximately 5.25 carats and measures approximately 136 x 95mm. It is understood that the cross was only ever worn by the princess, and following her death, it was never seen in public again until now.”
